Moxa on the Needle

This application uses moxa burnt on the needle handle.

It creates an amazingly relaxing effect, and can be extremely effective with musculo-skeletal problems, especially lower back pain, knee problems and stiff shoulders.

The treatment acts in three ways: firstly the action of the needle works conventionally; secondly the moxa creates a wonderful radiant heat around the needle itself, something which improves local circulation and relaxes muscular tension; thirdly some of the heat passes directly down the needle itself into the tight tissue (an effect which the patient never even notices, because they are enjoying the second radiant heat effect thinking they're relaxing on a beach somewhere!)
